Dr Prakash Gambhir

The Chief Medical Scientist at LifeCell, Dr Prakash Gambhir comes with more than 30 years of experience in Medical Genetics. A science enthusiast, Dr Gambhir has been instrumental in setting up the regional lab at Pune and in establishing the Fetal Autopsy initiative at the national level at LifeCell. Prior to his stint with the company, Dr Gambhir has been the Honorary Associate Professor and Genetic Clinical Incharge at BMJ Medical College. He later became the Professor and Head of the Department of Genetics at Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. He has also held the position of Director at Birthright Genetic Clinic and has played a key role in starting prenatal and newborn screening on the Delfia platform.

Dr Gambhir has received a Research training Fellowship from the Department of Human Genetics University of Bremen, Germany. With a passion for prenatal and newborn diagnostics, he has also been actively involved in contributing to the curriculum development for young researchers as a reviewer and visiting faculty at various institutions. He holds in Paediatrics from B.J. Medical College.
