Dr Murugan Nandagopal

Dr Murugan Nandagopal is a Scientist and Deputy General Manager at LifeCell. Since 2019, Dr Murugan has spearheaded various initiatives at the company including the Infectious Diseases Division and capacity building of regional labs across India for COVID-19 testing and other infectious as well as sexually transmitted disease panels. Since last year, his team has been instrumental in NABL accreditation and has delivered 1 million COVID RT-PCR reports during the pandemic. Prior to LifeCell, he has held various leading positions at Vision Research Foundation, Sankara Nethralaya, Aravind Eye Hospital, MedGenome and Wayne State University.

With a passion to harness the power of microbial genomics and molecular diagnosis for the advancement of diagnostic services, he has been a recipient of several accolades in research. He holds Masters in Biotechnology from Loyola College, M.Phil from PRIST University, a PhD in Genomics & Medical Biotechnology from SASTRA University, and Post-Doc (PDF) from Wayne State University, Michigan, USA.
